If it's not normal, then I understand the title carries an implication but please hear me out. This was the online conversation I had with a girl from the college we attended in the past:

Me: "Hey, long time no see, what have you been up to these days?"

Her: "Hi, yeah I've been great, *job update* , what about you?"

Me: "That's cool, I've been *job update*. Wanna go out for dinner this weekend?"

Her: "That's really good to hear. And I like the sound of dinner on the weekend"

Me: "Sweet, how about *this semi-fancy place*"

Her: "Yeah I love *this semi-fancy place*, so definitely up for that!"

And then she blocked me. Why would she say yes to going out for dinner and then block me a few hours after? I felt I made enough small talk without it being too much, I also got straight to the point and got a positive answer. I don't feel like I've "misinterpreted a signal" because the only signal is the text on my screen which is a positive one.

Also bear in mind, we minimally interacted with each other in college (essentially just saw each other in lectures and study areas) and this is my first online interaction with her. So I doubt there's anything I could have done to creep her out.

It's perfectly possible that she's just not interested and didn't want to be the one to say no. This is the most reasonable explanation, but I'd like to know if it's the norm to do this.
