Talking about going from zero to hero . Good job ! ;)
[–]TheThomaswastaken 80 points81 points82 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
For me, when you’re already sitting at a table full of fun people getting shots for free, why would you want to walk away to talk to some pretty rando?
[–][deleted] 28 points29 points30 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Sorry should have clarified both these women were married and I didn't find them attractive anyway, and I went back to their table after getting the number from one of the girls at the bar
[–]blakecleary2000 26 points27 points28 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Sounds like they were milfs too 🥵
[–]cazminda 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah and that would have blown any chance you had with the women you were sitting with.
[–]ZlatanAgrees 35 points36 points37 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
You talked with so many women, got a number, got invited to a homeparty and all in 1 day. Wow. I would feel exhausted after talking to 1 woman😅
[–][deleted] 25 points26 points27 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
That's understandable, hell with the 2nd place I went to, my confidence took a hit when that girl acted rudely and I saw that there were barely any single women there I did think that maybe this was a mistake. But then I thought to myself "I'm not going to let one rude girl ruin my night, you are here to have fun"
[–]ZlatanAgrees 6 points7 points8 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
I need your confidence haha. Even getting out of the house is pretty Hard
[–]hahah89gh 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Why? Lol
[–]ZlatanAgrees 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Dont know what to do. So im sitting at home or at my friends home
[–]hahah89gh 7 points8 points9 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Do anything you wanna do, you wanna see that movie go watch it. A new restaurant opened? Go try it. Maybe it’s because I was bullied all my life but eventually you just stop giving a fuck about how others see you. I do everything by myself (most people cancel on you and I’ve never been on a date with a girl), I went to a concert last month alone, a festival, the movies and went to try a new Italian spot. Maybe you’re afraid to be seen as a “loser who doesn’t have any friends” (I think that’s what most people’s fear is?) but fuck them fuck anyone who tries to make you feel like shit when you’re wanting to enjoy yourself.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
think of things you have found to be fun in the past, or things that people have said that you thought seemed interesting, and do them. there are museums, art gallery openings some evenings, bowling, checking out small ethnic restaurants that are out of the way. etc, etc, etc.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
If it makes you feel better I texted the girl whose number I got this morning and didn't get a response, yet, I mean I thought we vibed well but I guess not, it sucks but it happens
[–][deleted] 23 points24 points25 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Well I was coming here to tell you I did the same thing last week by going to the movies by myself. But you went way beyond what I did. Awesome job
[–][deleted] 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Hey that takes a lot of courage too I know because I did that before as well, it's all about taking small steps
[–]paddywacknack 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Baby steps. Just try to improve a little everyday.
[–][deleted] 17 points18 points19 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Alcohol helps although I kind of hate having to use it a crutch, but you know, you gotta do what works
[–]autisticspymaster1 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That was impressive, mate. Good job.
[–]mashyoo 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Solo is better than staying in but I think the ideal situation is going out with one other person. Most women will be in groups of 2 or more. Your group of 2 will match up with a group of 2. While you're talking to one your friend is talking to the other.
[–]zakary91 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I just started gaming, and im all solo lol it's hard but the adrenaline is too good. I'm taking it slowly but I feel I can free myself from these chains of social anxiety. Also I need to talk to other people too not only cute girls.
[–]erasmo2784 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I’m thinking about going solo tonight since all my friends are now cuffed and never want to go out. Gonna be my first time. How did you deal with your nervousness? I’m just nervous thinking about it
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
My nervousness peaked right before I left my house, I think once you're on your way to your destination, you relax a little, just think of everything as a small victory. You left the house that's a victory, you got on the train, bus, or drove to where you wanted to go, another small victory.

Nice I’ll give it a try but tell me what type bars where you going? What time?
Dive bars/ lounges, this was around 7pm-10:30 and they weren't so busy that I couldn't find a seat, after that was the house party for another 2 hours, but I definitely would have stayed out longer if I didn't get that invite.
[–]i-ban-ez 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
bro that sounds like such a perfect first nice out, if I had that experience I would be so happy
[–]Sordsmen345 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Holy shit dude, you did a fantastic job, I don’t really know how to approach people in public. I’ve been told to open with a compliment but like I don’t want to come on to a girl too strong because honestly I’m not even looking for sex. I just want to meet a nice girl who enjoys spending time with me. But seriously I appreciate you sharing your night with me, gave me some confidence to maybe go out and try this myself.
[–]SABRIAN70 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Totally, can relate!! After a hard week would go out solo to the local spot, some nights are better than others, but enjoying my self going solo, meeting new people, as long as you have a personality and can conversate it's in the bag 👍🏻
[–]sambouzled 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Congrats, it’s pretty amazing what you did. And it only gets easier from here on.
It’s interesting that I too was thinking about going out by myself last night after everyone canceled on me. I actually went to the “clubbing street”; But I re-thought my decision and decided to go back home.
My problem was that I don’t drink, and since I didn’t have any friends with me to chill with and have fun, I thought my night will highly rely on me finding some girls to talk to, otherwise I wouldn’t have fun. Thinking about it like that, I decided to go back home.
[–]guywhoisambitious 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Hey man do you mind if I ask how old you are?
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
23, I haven't had much experience going out even with friends lol because I was in an LTR for 3.5 years so I felt I never had a reason to go out a lot
[–]Eddyx93 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Inspriring! What would you rate yourself pure looks wise out of 10?
Honestly, I would give myself a solid 6-6.5
[–]mihawkd7 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
hey man, you are awesome. I read this a couple hours earlier and said fk it, I am going, too. Didn't go as well as your night, but I managed to go solo and talked to some women. Nothing happened, but I am still happy I did it. Will do it again.
The best part is the confidence boots you get. I love how at the end of the night I was able to say "you went out, be proud of yourself" instead of "you stayed in and played video games all night again huh"
[–]divinesage87 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You did more then most people would do, just have fun!
I don't think you give yourself enough credit that was pretty amazing.
[–]UneAmi 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Heyyy, this is a genuinely awesome story about not being alone. I wish I had done this when I was in my 20s. I spent so many nights alone and sad. Playing miserable video games because it was the only to ease my pain of loneliness.

Can you share what were conversations about? I just can't image what to talk about with strangers at a bar or houseparty.
Also, what city/town was this at? I think geography matters when you are talking to strangers.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
List of conversations I can recall:
What are you drinking?
How do you know X?
Where are you from?
Oh, you have kids how old?
Have you been here before?
Where do you work?
How do you like your work/what do you like about it?
Politics but in a fun way
Clothing was another frequent topic
We also talked about nationalities and music as well as movies/actors a lot
A lot of these provide a lot of segways for me, for example, if someone says I'm from Texas, I ask stuff like do you miss it/what do you miss about it, how long were you there for, or I tease them a little if they're a cute girl saying stuff like ohh you're from Texas with smirk and playful tone, stuff like that. I like to think I'm good at improv when talking with people if I ever sense a conversation is slowing down I'm usually able to keep it going, it's not like I had to memorize a list before going out.
This was in Manhatten
great that you are good at improv. Sometimes, I can start a conversation like you, but I can’t improvise or take the conversation interesting way after getting an answer to the first question.
[–]johnsanpedro 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
Well, there ya go.
I’ve never felt comfortable in groups or crowds. And I recoil at the idea of others speaking for me. And it wasn’t until I was walking into a bar with a couple friends in college and turned away at the door as they were walking in, said I was grabbing a smoke, and as I turned my friend got in my face and demanded to know why I “always find an excuse” to not walk in to a bar or club or show w him and others.
I wasn’t aware I did this. And he was angry about it. What I didn’t say at that moment was: He was the equivalent of a chain of garlic around my neck for any blood sucking opportunities I might have behind that door. He had “DESPERATE” tattooed on his forehead. He hadn’t been laid in years and he “tried” every time he went out. He always bought women drinks. He announced out loud that “we’re hitting it off” and having a “great time”.
He was the polar opposite of how I pulled ass. And I was successful at it. By not being associated with him and his Rasta-colored Tam and Frank Zappa facial hair and haggling w the bartenders after asking strangers if they wanted free drinks.
“I didn’t realize I was doing that. Sorry.” “Well, you do! Every time! And then you walk in alone and approach the rest of us like you didn’t know we’d be there.” “Hooking up w girls is something I do alone.” “Why?” “Because I’m in control.”
And I look stronger. More independent. More self assured. When I’m alone. I’m also more social. More willing to strike up a conversation. More apt to smile.
Friends — in the realm of casual sex — work against me. They are obstacles I have to avoid.
And I realize this stems from my shyness as a kid. My childhood as a poorly trained social being who chose not to fret about not being popular but instead reveled in my outsider vibe. Though still not meeting who I wanted. That would take practice. And practice I did, almost always alone.
But to fly solo and find success, as you mentioned, you have to be versatile with conversation, have to be willing to drop everything and go w an impulse, and goddamit, you gotta be funny.
When you’re 17 - 24 you can rely heavily on looks + clothing + proximity. Cue: sullen tortured poet or misunderstood mathematical genius routines. But as you plunge full on into adulthood, you need a personality to close the deal. You need to recognize a spark and capitalize on that connection.
And this is so much easier when your struggling sexless buddy isn’t handing out kamikazes, telling an uninterested girl he’s so happy to be getting to know her...
“Cheers!”
