First, you don’t need to fill every gap in conversation with...conversation. Matter of fact try the opposite, when they says something, take a breath and think about what they’ve said before you respond. You’re forgetting to actively listen. Conversation requires two people to talk AND listen. If you’re not listening you’re never going to have the chance to connect what they’re saying to your personal perspective or opinion. And this is something everybody does poorly at times. You’re probably already thinking of what to say next which naturally means you’re not paying attention to the person you’re conversing with is saying and conveying. You can’t do both at the same time.
So, when you talk to someone new, first make sure you’re breathing, this reduces anxiety. Second, hear, listen, breathe think about what was just said and respond. Over time this process will get faster but you’ve got to learn to listen.

I agree. It's not about you talking, because words don't matter. Just say something and listen, then, build a conversation. You can still work on your humor or smth afterward, but that's the essence of human conversations.
Also keep in mind. You're not convincing girls who don't like you at all. That would be a waste of time. You're persuading girls who are on the fence about it.

Dude, tonight I talked about astrology, pastries, and micropenises. It doesn't matter what you say. Even silence is tight when you own it.

See that's the thing I don't mind talking about anything but nothing comes to mind when I approach at all.
