So a point about terminology. I hear a lot of folks talk about "oneitis" when they are really talking about getting stuck in "cherish mode."
Oneitis is a lot better defined, and is essentially very similar to the clinical state of "limerance" - in that you're obsessed with a girl, she "completes" you, she's "the one" (hence, oneitis) but there's a fundamentally unrequited element to it. You're more (sometimes much more) invested in it than she is. See http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=oneitis
Then there's something I've heard referred to as "cherish mode." This is not like oneitis - it's where the feelings are mutual, you're both attracted to each other and invested in each other, and yes, you feel like she may be "the one," but frankly, she feels that way too. Which can be great - except if your whole aim of getting into pickup game was to play the field and date multiple women.
An article about it is here:

Thoughts? Anyways I hope this can stimulate some discussion.
TL;DR
So, basically, if you're pining away for a girl, if you're convinced she's "the one," and she isn't really interested, but you're stuck on her? You have "oneitis."
If you're stuck on a girl, you're convinced she's "the one," you're infatuated, and SHE'S RECIPROCATING, then this isn't oneitis - this may be "cherish mode" - which can be good or bad, given your goals as a burgeoning PUA.
