Difference between flirting and being friendly?

Flirting is a lot less of what you say, and a lot more of how you say it. Example:

Friendly: "Hi, I'm John." (Smile, aloof, kinda looking just around in general)

Flirty: "Hi, I'm John." ("knowing" smile, eye contact right with her, body language that says you and her are the only people in the room).

Generally, flirting comes through behavior more than speech. Good eye contact with strong eyes (like you're more than just acknowledging her presence), Body angled towards her, leaning in, kino, et cetera. These things will go way farther than a "I'm trying to be funny, let me buy you a drink".

Escalation and kino will pretty quickly tell you whether a girl is really interested.

Flirts stick to words.

Escalate and kino - she'll be like "oh you, I was just foolin' is all."

Question answered.

You only have to worry about teases if you escalate/kino. Teases exist. They like having a guy melt into putty chasing the V, and you know who is a tease by how heavily they reciprocate and then pull back last second.

Don't be that guy. Meet women who aren't teases.

When I flirt.. a lot of it is about personal space, body language, tone of voice, and where the eyes go. Usually a bit of touching is what starts the whole thing off, but there has to be a level of comfort first.

Flirting is when both people are aware of sexual attraction but it has not been openly acknowledged by either person. One PUA system calls this "covert attraction" and the next step is to escalate and make it overt that you are attracted.

I'm curious how you guys distinct flirting from being friendly to the person of the opposite sex?

The difference, internally, is intent. When you are interested in someone, your intent and mindset will be different than if you have no interest in someone. Externally, this difference in intent and mindset, leaks into behavior, word choice, etc., and is observable to others.

It's the difference between being around someone when you know shit would go down if you were alone with them, versus knowing that nothing would happen.
