'Low social status' meaning being unemployed for more than a year, living on benefits and currently studying to switch careers to software engineering, at 41 yo. I have my own appartment, in good health, I excercise, I don't look my age and I'm generally very comfortable with women in all social settings. Yet, I get uncomfortable when asked 'so what do you do?'. I can almost see the initial attraction fading away in their eyes. This is most painfull with women I genuinely like and attracted to, so I hold back a lot now and convince myself they're just being nice to me.

What to do ? Not date and don't have sex till my income and career is restored ?. This could take a while.
