Coffee/tea during the day. At night I like drinks+darts at a bar or grabbing ice cream and walking about. If the date is going well I sometimes chain those two together by saying loser at darts pays for ice cream.

The main things to keep in mind are that first dates should be 1) something that YOU want to do, since you want to be comfortable and 2) nothing that is a serious time commitment in case the chemistry isn't there. Hell, I've had first dates just walking around Whole Foods for groceries. Be creative.

If you have a place nearby to play then, laser tag. Even if its just the two of us playing I've always had an amazing date there. I haven't had anyone decline yet and it usually gets her to break the ice with How I Met Your Mother references.

Youd be surprised at what chicks are down for.. lunch at a random place in Little (blank) Area of your city and back to your place for drinks or forgotten wallet
