I'm in college and one of the fraternities threw a big party last night; lot's of girls, booze, a packed dance floor, typical college stuff. I pregame a little bit, head over and the games begin. I went in with a no-fear mentality of opening, determined to open every set I ran into and expecting to get blown out a lot. 3 second rule everywhere, I was rapid-firing openers like Rambo on the warpath. Ended up dancing with HB7, possibly a little bit of an AFC girl. I ask her to dance, and she kinda looks at her friend for a approval and I passed I guess. I take her by the hand and lead her into the mass of limbs that are bumping and grinding. We start dancing slowly and I could tell that this girl had no idea what to do and needed to be led. I tried to slowly escalate, working up to holding her hands, alternating pace, breathing on the neck. All of this for around 15 minutes. I tried going for compliance, and turned her around. We are now face to face and I started to give her some eye contact. I think it was too intense for her and she got scared, so she backed off and told me she had to find her friend. Bummer.

I take a short break and head back to the dance floor. I start experiencing with openers, trying things such as "Hi, I'm X, who are you?" or "You look like you're having the most fun, I want to dance with you". None of these openers work as well as the simple, "Hey, let's dance". In a crowded and loud place, conversation isn't exactly a possibility and the shorter and more direct an opener is, the better. I start working on body posture when opening and kinoing upon contact. I also experiment with pre-opening; touching a shoulder and making eye contact, then opening.

Most hilarious blow out:

Me: "Hey wan-" Her: "NO. Get away from me"

I begin to realize that dance floor game is all about numbers and initial attraction. There's not really any chance for you to convince a girl to dance with you. If she says no, that's it, you've got to move on. I open a HB7 that I met and # closed a previous night. Immediate kino and high energy, so we begin dancing. This girl is a fantastic dancer and we have great rapport, at least I thought we did. After another 15ish minutes, she peels off and joins her friends. So much for that.

Third round, I go up to a HB6 and we start dancing face to face. I like this way much better as I got to talk to her while our faces were brushed up against each other and we had some good banter back and forth. Started some light teasing and then slowed things down later. Unfortunately, HB6's friend came over and pulled her away, so I had to # close.

After that the party was dying down so I just decided to grab a pizza and go to bed. Good lessons on dance floor game learned, but I still need to learn how to properly escalate. Anyone have some good tips on verbally and physically escalating on a crowded dancefloor?
