I know this is gonna sound super lame. I have the ability to talk to many people when I am forced to. My last job had me say hello to every customer who walked in the door and make conversation (video game store). In class, when we have to form groups, I can introduce myself to people and start one.
My biggest problem has always been approaching someone out of the blue and completely randomly. I was in the student center of my school and saw 1 girl. It took me 30 mins to get up the courage but I just walked over to her and said "hello, my name is ____. I was bored just sitting here and wanted to talk to someone". We talked for about 30 minutes and she went to class.
I have always had the idea that I would hate if some random weirdo started just trying to chat me up. People have done this to me and they were either religious or psychotic. So yeah, it didn't go anywhere and I didnt ask for her number because I simply wasn't interested in her. I just wanted to thank everyone in this subreddit for helping me find the courage to just go out and do it. I figured I would prolly never see her again, so why not?
In case someone hasn't seen these videos before, I had these in mind when I was thinking of approaching for 30 mins. Simple Pick Up.. Also, I'll take any advice for conversation starters.
