Hey guys, I posted a field report here about a week ago and realized the combination of analyzing my own game, as well as getting feedback from the community was a great step for me in terms of getting better. As a result, in the spirit of the olden days of pick-up forums, I've decided to start posting more FR's whenever I think something deserving happens.
This happened a couple nights ago, but I've just been so busy I haven't the time to type it out. I like detail, so it's gonna be a long one boys, buckle up.
Over the weekend a bunch of friends from home and I went to this party a ways away, of some kid I met last year in college. We all have a lot of mutual friends from high school and college and whatnot, but I ended up knowing less than 50% of the total people at this party. I walked in with my buddies and immediately noticed two unfamiliar cute girls at the end of the kitchen. I wanted to hang out with some friends and drink a few beers before I even thought about pick-up.
I ended up going around the house throughout the next 20 minutes or so, talking to everyone I knew and introducing myself to everyone I didn't know, and in an effort to up my social charisma for the night, I tried to have a meaningful conversation with every person I met.
Fast forward about an hour, after finishing a few games of pool with my buddies, I look over to see these two girls by themselves across the basement. My friends say they're gonna go outside, I said I'll catch up with them. I walk right up to the two girls, and say real casually something like "hey, I haven't met you guys yet." I extend my hand to the first girl (closest to me), she shakes it and tells me her name and I mine. Instead of letting go immediately, I hold her hand there and just give her a quick smile, then look to the other girl and ask for her name mid handshake. After about 5 seconds I let go and just proceed to talk to both of them, finding out where they go to school, what they do, etc.
At this point I can already feel maybe more confident than I ever have in this situation. It could be a combination of having had a couple beers to loosen me up, being in a situation where I knew a lot of people, etc. but I strongly feel that taking the time to socialize with everyone had really brought me to the pinnacle of my social game.
Girl 1, who's hand I initially shook, I'll call her Sarah from now on, mentioned how her friend does the weather for her school, and I made a joke something about how I can blame her if she's wrong. Don't remember how exactly I put it, but it was definitely smoother than that because they fucking ate it up.
I felt super present to the moment, just saying whatever popped into my mind. I was pretty funny and the girls loved it. I even used the "are you guys best friends" line, asking if they "even use the same shampoo and everything," and they immediately said yes, then looked at each other and asked the other what they use, which I was amused by for some reason.
They had to go upstairs to go to the bathroom or something, so I said no problem and told them we would talk later.
About 20 minutes later I run into them again and yell "friends!" And bring them both in for a group hug. At this point I was already vibing with Sarah more, and I thought she was the cuter of the two, but I still made sure to include her friend for the time being.
About 5 minutes go by and another guy comes over who knows the girls, so I introduce myself to him and see this as the opportunity to isolate Sarah. I turned my body into the group a little and started talking with her one-on-one. Even though I was pretty interested in her, I genuinely forgot her name the moment she had told it to me (even though I actually managed to remember her friend's name), so I said "you're gonna hate me, but I can't remember your name." She rolled her eyes and made an "ugh" noise (in a jokingly annoyed way) and put her hand on my shoulder in and said "it's Sarah." I pulled her in for the hug, said I'm sorry, and held her there for a big long hug, and she said "you stupid, stupid boy," and repeated my name to emphasize she remembered it.
I let go of the hug but rolled her away and kept my arm across her waist as we stood side by side to watch a little beer pong.
I knew she was cool with kino escalation at this point, so I grabbed her hair and started twirling it, commenting how I loved how thick and unique it was. She was so greatful and said "really?! Nobody ever compliments my hair." I kept playing with it and she leaned her head into my shoulder.
She had to go to the bathroom again, so she said she would be right back, and told me "not to move." I said okay, but immediately my friends started up a pool game so I walked over to join. I'm not a puppy dog.
10 minutes later the game ended and I walked back up to her and said, "whoops, I guess I moved..."
She was fine with it, and I made some comment about her hair. She said "oh my god I totally forgot you said that! It's like receiving the compliment all over again!"
I'm usually not good at giving compliments, so I didn't really know what to say, so I just said "oh I guess I get double credit for that then" and quickly moved on to the next topic. We were super cuddly at this point, hugging and hand holding, but we were still surrounded by people we knew so I chose not to escalate further.
Unfortunately, this story does not have a happy ending. Her friend rejoined us, and Sarah eventually brought up how she had to leave because she had somewhere to be early the next morning.
At this point I felt like I got hit by a brick wall, and knew I fucked up. As smooth as I had felt the entire night, I started to break down in the last few minutes and got needy, telling her to stay a little longer and essentially begging her not to leave. She went and said goodbye to everyone else and I saw her right before she walked out, gave her a hug and basically tried to maintain it as she said she had to go. I let go and she said to text her. I said, I don't have your number, and she said, "oh yeah, find me on Facebook then." Normally I would have pushed for the number, because fuck Facebook, but I knew I would never see this girl again since we don't live that close and the only time that mattered was that night, so I just said okay and let her go.
I was so pissed off despite trying to calm myself down and say it didn't matter. Immediately I remembered the RSD Tyler video I had watched a few days earlier, where he just hammered "logistics, logistics, logistics...always find that shit out!" I assumed she would be staying over, because most people were, and that arrogance really bit me in the ass. Had I thought to ask, I could've escalated to a kiss faster and maybe made something of the night. It's a mistake I won't make again.
I decided to not let this ruin my night, as the night was still young. I went upstairs and talked to 4-5 new girls who walked in since I'd made my rounds earlier in the night. Later in the night I ended up making out and cuddling with another girl before falling asleep on the couch together.
I thought this may have been one of my smoothest sets ever, despite it ending in failure. The logistics thing was a huge lesson for me, and at the very least it's a mistake that I will never make again. But in terms of social outgoingness, being present to the moment, and kino (which is one of my biggest sticking points) I was on point. I proved to myself I can be fucking smooth and that talking to every single person and just owning the room is a huge social lubricator for me, and I'll definitely keep it as part of my routine.
