I'm a journalist in China, and I work for an English newspaper. I was sent there to see how a English-speaking guest lecturer managed to deal with Chinese-speaking local students and watched the interaction! During the whole lecture, which was based on ethics, something that I was very familiar with in college since I minored in philosophy. The whole time I kept thinking about how attractive this professor was (HB8), and I had never approached anyone straight up in a romantic way... so at the end of the lecture, I walked up to her. (She was full aware that I was a reporter doing a story)

  • Me: "Hi, I'm [name]. I need your contact info."
  • Her: "Oh! Sure, give me a sec..." -rummages in bag, then gives me number + e-mail address-
  • Me: "So what are you doing this weekend?"
  • Her: -thinking- "Um..."
  • Me: "Not an interview or anything. I'm talking about a date. Me and you should go out sometime."
  • Her: "Oh my God! Hahaha uhm I guess that sounds good! Sure!"
  • Me: "Yeah... you're pretty cute, so. I'll text you. Bye!"

The whole time I tried really hard to act confident and maintain eye contact, which I did, but I was SUPER nervous... AA everywhere... my heart was beating super fast but I managed to do it! Texted her after I left saying 'hey, see you soon this weekend. ;)', and she responded immediately with a 'haha yes that sounds great'.

At this point.. wat do??!! I have never been on an official date with a girl before..
