Hey crawleydown,

Reading your conversation reminds me of my early day-game attempts. I feel you. It's difficult to create something out of nothing, so here's how you can take things next time:

You: Hey! I had to come and meet you quickly. You're really pretty.

Her: haha. Oh. Thanks.

You: So, what are you up to?

Her: Just on my way home.

You: You know, you strike me as someone who's smart/creative/outgoing/(other non-physical attractive quality that you think she might be)

You probably do something interesting, like an accountant/tattoo artist/physical trainer/other job that relates to the quality you just said

Her: (Tells you what she does)

You: When I think of ___ (what she does), I'm picturing you ___ (make a playful tease). Haha, am I right?

Example: she's an arts major. "When I think of arts, I'm picturing you wearing these hipster glasses, sitting at a coffee shop, hammering your way on your MacBook pro trying to solve the world's problems."

Her: Hahaha ___(she'll say more stuff here)

From here on, just start vibing with her. You can mix in questions with cold-reads (like what you did above) to other topics like where she's from, what her hobbies and interests are).

If she starts asking you questions in reciprocation, feel free to answer honestly. This means, at the very least, she's interested in knowing more about you. Don't be afraid to let her know who you really are.

As a tip for building a connection, relate to emotional commonalities rather than factual commonalities.

For example, instead of trying to find common interests, discover why she holds those interests. Once you found her emotional motivation behind it, you can relate it to why it's a similar emotional reason why you hold one of your interests.

Then ask her if she's single. Ask her for her availability. Set up a date then and there. Then take her number.

Say goodbye, and hug.

Honestly, that was kind of rough. But the important thing is you actually approached and you can learn from this! In my experience, taking the lead is way more helpful than having her sort of guide you in the convo with her answers. When she said she was going home, I personally would've said "well listen, I'm on my way to (insert place here) and I would love to get your number before I head out." Then hand her your phone as you're saying that and if she declines or says no then it's ok and you simply say alright and wish her a good day. This way, you end the conversation and you have the power to leave whenever you want basically. If you feel this isn't you however, find your own style and just keep approaching. You'll find what works.
