So I've been doing this for a while but I've been "cheating" in a way because my job includes me approaching hundreds of girls daily because I need to. It's great, I've gotten numbers and hookups because of it. Today, however, I approached a girl in a clothing store that worked there. I asked her if they had any bomber jackets and she didn't know what they were so we were walking around and she was like "this?" etc. I could tell she was really introverted in the beginning but I was making jokes and saying shit like "Okay now you're just making fun of me." when she showed me a certain jacket that was ugly. I had her laughing and I was really starting to realize how scary this is compared to at my work, so I was close to just saying "okay well thanks anyway" and leaving but after we stopped I just said "Okay thanks for trying. What's your name by the way?" she told me, and when she told me she looked very uncomfortable but I was TOTALLY not in the moment, I was terrified but I still carried myself confidently because I'm confident in myself, but still, terrified. So I got her name and she was avoiding eye contact completely and playing with her hands, but I kept going and said "So, how are you?" and that was the most awkward line in that place ever, I JUST BLANKED, completely. It was awful. She said she was good so I just continued and said "Well I just found you cute so I wanted to come talk to you, I don't really care about bomber jackets." then she was all "heh" and I then said "Let me grab your number." because again, completely blanked, did not know what to say at all. It was awful. She said "Umm no I don't think I'm old enough for you, awkward laugh." I asked how old she was and she said 16. I raised my eyebrows and let out a small "hah" and said "Bye" while walking away. I felt like an asshole, but it just kind of happened without me thinking, haha.

I was walking away feeling awkward as fuck, but I've never felt phased by rejection so I didn't give a shit. I was actually pretty happy because I was thinking that if I just got through something that awkward and now I'm laughing about it, I can get through anything.

The problem? I'm confused because I normally have amazing conversations with girls. I go on first dates, and they all go great. I almost always end up fucking a girl once I get her on that first date. I don't understand why I couldn't say anything to this one. It may have been nerves, it might have been her lack of social skills, but even so it hit my ego a bit, which can be good and bad.

Question. At my job, I'm approaching over 100 girls daily. (My job is as a tea guide. I sell tea, but most of the time I like to sample it to improve social skills.) I talk to them about tea, and it seems like only 1/5 girls or less, like 1/10 even are actually cool girls that like to stay around and talk. I talk to them for a good 10-20 minutes sometimes about random stuff and it's a blast. They're laughing, we're all having a good time. Is the rate meant to be this low? I'm guessing a lot of girls aren't as receptive because I'm just a handsome guy that's peddling tea, so they don't expect me to actually want anything more than for them to buy my product, when in reality I want their numbers and to fuck them. In general, and I know it comes down to area, nationality, looks, other shit, but in general what would you say the ratio of approaching a girl and having a good interaction would be?
