So, this is my first ever FR here and I wanted to share with you what happened in my first (good) Tinder date, what I fucked up and what I can do better next time. It also serves to me as a way to get this shit out of my mind (has been wandering in my head all day, today was NOT a good day).

So, matched with a 18yo on tinder (22yo me). She actually initiated conversation with me about something I had in my bio.

We actually only talked for about a day in tinder and I quickly got her on whatsapp. We did not became texting buddies although we did talk a bit via text. I quickly moved the conversation into a date scenario and I met her yesterday.

We first walked together and initiated the "boring" phase of the date. Get to know her a little bit, where she's from, what she studies, etc.

Then we decided to do something more fun so we buy tickets to a cable car. The view was fantastic. I quickly started to change subjects and got the conversation more personal. We shared dreams, stuff we want to do in the future, and I began escalating physically. Arm around her, touching her slightly. She reciprocated and started leaning on my shoulder.

After the cable car trip and more walking, we decided to visit a local exposition. Holy fuck did we had fun. We played games, saw children playin', laughed, hell we even took pictures together. Seriously, whoever saw us, would think we were dating for a long time.

We leave the exposition and we walk some more. Always with my arm around her. By this time (around an hour, hour and a half into the date) I knew it was time for me to make the conversation even more "uncomfortable" and I asked her why she thought we would be a nice couple (always jokingly ofc) and she said things she liked about me, I asked her what did she liked about me, told what I liked about her, etc. We did not mention the obvious parts (how we were physically attracted to each other), we talked about values and traits we liked about each other. I told her I liked her because she was a genuine fun person to be with and that she was really mature for her age, she told me I was a fun guy and that she liked the fact that I could quickly make her comfortable.

We then sat on a bench for a while and I knew in my mind I just HAD to kiss her right there. Long story short, I didn't. First opportunity blown.

We got up, go to a local coffee shop, and grab a bite. We then move to another location and visit some stores and cloths just for the funs. By this time I was already "caressing" her shoulder underneath her jacket. She was liking it.

Time for me to walk her home. We talked a bit more but I felt the conversation dying towards the end of it. I got to her to door and all I could think about was kissing her. Ye, you guessed it, I didn't.

I kiss her on the cheeks and we say goodbye with a smile. I really, REALLY, think she was expecting a kiss. In fact, I fucking know she was. There is no way she didnt want a kiss. All I could think about the whole way home was how frustrated and disappointed I was (and still am) with myself.

We exchanged 2 texts later. She said she had fun, etc. Today I texted her asking when she was free next week for a second date to which she answers "I don't know yet :P I'll let you know."

Well, there you have it boys. I fucked it up. REAL time.

Lessons learned:

  • Here (in Portugal) girls are a little bit more conservative and kissing on a first date is kind of a "tabu", HOWEVER, when a date goes as well as this, some exceptions can be made to the this.
  • When the date is going well, JUST. FUCKING. KISS. HER.
  • The pain of the regret of not kissing her and not taking a shot is a MILLION times greater than the pain of a kiss rejection. Granted
