Background: I had met a girl through a mutual friend and got her number and arranged a date. The following was exchanged back and forth. There was major chemistry at our initial meet up, and only a number close because she was our DD. Both of us are university students.

Me: I'm going to be trapped in the library tomorrow afternoon. Lets meet up for coffee around 230?

Her: Well hello nickname. Can I take a raincheck? I have an exam the day after and I'm going to be raping my books. What about Wednesday.

Me: I've got an interview Wednesday afternoon, I won't be available. Just think of monday as a study break c:

Her: amateurhour honestly I would if I could. I apologize but i'm really stressing out about this exam, I can't take much of a break. I'm sure you understand how I feel, text me another time. Good luck with your interview!

Next day I get an email saying my interview time had changed.

Me: Interview was changed, so you should keep wednesday afternoon free. Good luck on your exam, I'll call you.

Her: What time were you thinking?

Me: Lets meet at 3

Her: I've got work at 4 though. ttyl.

Me: you're a real pain in the ass, you know? If my interview is done before 3 I'll let you know.

This is where it gets weird.

Her: I dont think I've done anything to make your ass feel any pain. amateurhour I think you're a really nice person and I'm sorry but maybe us meeting up isn't the greatest of ideas. Long story short I've been single for about two weeks now after getting my heart broken and i'm not looking for anything right now. I'm sorry I probably should have told you sooner. I'm not just saying this to get out of seeing you, ask mutual friend if you don't believe me, but it would be unfair to you and I would be lying to myself and to you. I don't want to lead you on in any way. Again, I apologize. You're great to talk to but i have so much on my plate I need to focus on myself and school. I hope you can understand and not think I'm a bitch. Also, sorry for my life story. This is not a good time for me right now. I'm sorry it took me so long for me to realize.

Me: Yeah sure, I was just kidding about you being a pain in the ass ;). Thanks for saying something sooner rather than later. No hard feelings. You've got my number.

Her: wow thank you for being so understanding. Yes I have your number - I'm sure I'll see you around amateurhour

The next week I was out for drinks with the mutual friend. The mutual friend brought this up by saying "Hey, did you ask her for her number? What happened with that?" I responded "Yeah. I asked her out for coffee and she declined."

Mutual friend tells me that she is going to talk to her and is "rooting for me" and wants her to start dating again. Since then, I've received a "poke" on facebook from her but didn't react.

Anything I could have done wrong? I don't know if she is for real with the bail, or not. Mutualfriend and I are going out for drinks with some other people next week, and it's not known if her is coming. Any suggestions?
