My wingman and I were out at a couple of bars last night. We were in a set of two (HB6/HB7). Plenty of bantering -- I was called the "mean" one. After twenty minutes of talking in a group we each paired up with one, myself with the HB6, mainly because she was sitting next to me and we had more in common, despite me wanting the HB7. We aren't entirely isolated from one another, each pair about 3 feet away from the other.
My wing occupied the obstacle well enough, as I built comfort with HB6. Ten minutes in and the HB7 chimes in with "You two are perfect for each other." I ignore it and continue talking to HB6. Still, HB7 chimes in again with "You two are perfect for each other."
Now, we were not perfect for each other by a long shot, but we were definitely connecting and vibing really well at the moment. Her comment really kills attraction and is especially hard to dodge when I am trying to build comfort/rapport. I tried ignoring it and disqualifying the target, but she persisted and it gets a little awkward and brings attraction and comfort down a notch.
HB7 was either jealous and this was deliberately done or genuinely believed it. Looking back I should have just accepted the comment ("You're right, we are) and went in for a closed mouth half-comical kiss. Anyone else have this happen? What could I have done better?
