Whenever I interact with another person, I begin to self identify with him/her.

E.g: The other day I wanted to invite a girl who was a friend of a friend to a party and a guy said "you can't just invite anyone over, that would be so awkward for everyone". I said "it isn't awkward for me, i like meeting new people."

For the next 3 hours, I began self identifying with that guy and my frame shifted from "open to meeting new people" to "sheltered, close minded curling up in his comfort zone".

Is this common? Why does this keep happening and how can I stop doing this?
