I'd say the best way is to state it, not ask. An alpha would say 'hey give me your number cos this was fun tonight and we should do it again'. I think if you ask it as a question like 'may i have your number please' it shows weakness.

I just pull out my phone, put it on the call screen and hand it to her to do the rest. I find it's easy to "get" her number, feels like a small victory when you first start to do it, but getting her on a date is a pain in the ass. Something I'm working on is qualification and building rapport, if you can get a girl feel like she "earned" your interest, getting that first date shouldn't be a problem.

If you're already comfortable with her, just straight up ask. Something as simple as "So what's your phone number?" (as you pull out your phone.) You say 'clever alpha ways', but to me being more alpha is more up front. She's gonna know you want her number any way you phrase it.

I saw one that I really liked on here that went something like this (paraphrased, the original was better but I'm lazy):

"hey I had fun we should hang out sometime."

"yeah definitely"

"well how would I go about contacting you?"

*probably gives phone number

It was basically saying, try and get her to give you her number.

I have 100% success rate* with something like this:

"hey well I gotta go, but could I get your number and we can hang out again some other time?"

"sure"

have only used it once (I'm very new to this, today was day 2) but it worked.

Short version: I let her play with my phone. Then after a little bit I tell her to put her number in too because I'm going to ask her out later.

Example: Last week I was at this festival/dance when I saw a friend I haven't seen in a while. He was with these 2 chicks (one I know, the other I don't). Long story short, he introduced me to the chick I didn't know and the 4 of us went back to his place and chilled. I was talking to her about raving or clubbing or something (she was all about that), and I said it looked fun but I didn't know where to do it. She grabbed my phone and pulled up some pages in the browser and bookmarked them. I told her, "You should put your number in too, because you're gonna come with me when I go." She did it. We chilled the rest of the night. Easy. The trick is to make it normal and not seem like a big deal.
