Part of this subreddit that I have taken away over my past year or so browsing it revolves a lot around introspection and confidence coming from within. This is something that tonight, I realised I have lost over the last few months.

My journey of seduction started after a harsh breakup in late 2012, and I quickly gained back my confidence and became extremely successful throughout 2013-14. However I have recently realised that recent life events have made me lose this confidence.

Through getting permanently injured out of my favourite sport, my parents getting divorced and the ensuing nasty legal battle, and losing my fitness as I no longer participated in said sport, I conveniently found 'the perfect girl' which quickly developed into a case of oneitis.

After a drunken hook-up with this girl and getting the 'let's be friends' chat the next day, I somehow became convinced that I could only be happy with her.

What is realised today at 1:15AM is that this is not true. After having a long night of thinking and going through each of my actions over the last few months I realised that I am depressed. I am using this girl as an excuse to explain why I'm unhappy, an excuse that allows me to forget about the depression.

But now I know that once I end up with this girl I will continue to be unhappy. My logical side knows that one person cannot truly make another happy, and that my true happiness and validation needs to come from myself.

I think that my problem is a common one and that many of the people here with so-called 'oneitis' are actually just ignoring their emptiness and wrongly expecting their happiness to come in a package with 'that perfect girl.'

Tomorrow I will be restarting my journey of self-improvement.

Be a man you want to be, because that's the man that people want to be with.
