I feel like you have to have already built a fairly strong connection for this to result in a new wave of enthusiasm from them - which isn't likely if you've just had a 5 minute chat and gotten her number at the beach or even had a short date, let alone just a conversation on a dating app.

I don't try to play the game so to speak, usually I just get a bit indignant with their sudden coldness and respond naturally... but whenever I've take days to respond to someone who's taken days to respond to me, or start acting disinterested when someone has started to give me that treatment, it seems to backfire... in most cases it's game over.

I've actually had more luck by being persistent (not too pushy and socially inept though) - sure it doesn't work on some but I honestly feel like there wasn't much to lose in those cases because they most likely would've eventuated in the situation above where we quickly just grow apart and lose any connection.

But sometimes I find myself torn about which route to take because they're both natural in a way - being persistent because yes I'm still drawn to you and my attraction didn't just disappear overnight because you started ignoring me... then being cold because I have self respect and I'm not going to make you a priority if you've clearly put me on your backburner.

**Note this is about responding coldly towards someone who's started responding to you that way not about you being the one to go cold on them**
