The party was at the end of a narrow cul-de-sac, a street barely wide enough for two cars. I was heading in, and the SUV was heading out. As we inched past each other, I looked in the driver’s open window and saw a man I recognized as my husband Ed’s friend Joe, a lovely man I’d spoken to once or twice over the years.
“Hey!” I smiled. “You’re leaving already?” He smiled back, and we chatted for a bit—about the party, the lack of parking, about a bike ride he was planning on taking early the next morning. “Don’t leave,” I said. “Ed will be here soon.” And the man in the SUV said, “Who’s Ed?” I looked at him, this man with whom I was laughing and talking so easily, and I realized it wasn’t Joe. It was some random guy driving away from a party on the other side of the street. A handsome stranger. And in that moment, I saw how my life could have been different. I saw how easy it can be.
What the trick is. That there is no trick. That the best come-on line in the world is just, “Hi.”

I read this off a bag from Chipotle after ordering my food and wonder to myself why work to craft such a stiff opener? The story inspired me and realized I shouldn't fret on what to say or do. A simple "Hi" with interest should be enough. No need to over complicate things.
Wanted to share this with the community. I know there's more to it than hi such as inner game and mentality but the simple things are often the most profound no?
