I'm a beginner and trying to level up my social skills while having a circle of friends mixed in gender.

The other day I was at a tutor center and spoke tot his woman, very attractive but I was there to study, not to score at all. I have other things on my plate anyways.

Let's get to the meat of things. She talked and was explaining a problem for my subject and I stared at her eyes, she then shifted her glance to me and we just stared for three seconds with no talking.

Now, for me, my heart felt like there was pressure, cracking quickly and not to be some creep, I glanced to my work and solved the problem and she left but the tension was painful yet fun, hard to describe. Almost masochistic.

For anyone who's a beginner or recall how it is to hold eye contact, is this how it every time? Or do you get used to it, revel in it or the works?

EDIT: Wow, didn't expect such a response, a question turned into top page of seddit. Haha, thank you everyone to those that voted and chimed in, it's surprising but very welcomed.

EDIT 2: I went out to eat with my family at a restaurant. An attractive waitress looked at my family and then at me. I stared back at her eyes and we locked for a brief moment, she walked forward to our seats, turned around, looked back at me, did the same.

It wasn't intense like the one I mention, didn't feel this pressure at all. In fact, it was comforting, friendly. Maybe because she's working and NEEDS to be on her best behavior, or the fact we were three or four feet away as oppose to the woman where it was two feet and the angle was looking downward because I was sitting and she was standing, thus, we only saw each other, not the environment.

Then one final time we looked at each other, smiling and she went back to work. Another waiter came by and replaced her but I wasn't disheartened. I enjoyed it and honestly, she looked great for someone who's not trying to get hit on. Just some little tidbits about eye contact.
