- I don't know how to explain this, but I've built emotional connections when I'm not fully there (e.g., there is something else on my mind). When I'm thinking about bigger problems I have going on, I get less nervous about the conversation, and my body language makes me seem more 'chill'. I try not to be fully interested in the person, but rather in the conversation itself. A few months ago, there was a fire drill (we didn't know it was a fire drill at the time) and when I talked to a girl outside, I wasn't even paying attention to what she said, and I don't know how I was able to keep the conversation going, anywho, I got her number and we've hung out and have become friends since then.

- Ask questions, and challenge the girl on her interests. I was talking to a girl today, and I told her that I would become a vegetarian if she could give me three valid reasons. After she listed the points, I refuted all of them (of course some I did in a half-heartedly trolling tone, but we debated, and I put her on the defense).

- Let them talk. This is a big problem for me. I really love to talk, and I tend to cut people off when i know what they are going to say, don't do that! let them finish.

- when the person tells you something personal, you have to agree and amplify, and there are bonus points if you can actually use their words. If its something rascist or something that contradicts your values, call them out on it, but don't be a douche. say: "sorry, but I'm not racist, and I have a black friends, so I find that borderline offensive."

- Say their name.

- Talking with your hands and touch them in a nonaggressive way. If you have to go out of your way to kino, I don't recommend you do it then. It feels awkward at first, but it really helps, so I recommend you push yourself to do it.

-teasing in a funny way. A few weeks ago, a girl was giving me a long, apologetic story for why she had to leave early. I responded (with a smile): "wow, your such a lair [HB's name]. It make the situation less awkward, and it puts her on the defense so that she has to qualify herself.
