Get a job that forces you to interact with people for much of the day and gradually improve your social skills. I'm of the school of thought that you can't really be confident unless you have some actual successes to back it up. For example, after you start a conversation with someone and have it go well, you will then become more confident that you can do it again. After you've done it several times you will be even more confident. I don't think you can become confident without those successes because otherwise your confidence may simply be delusion. Like for example, if you suck at basketball, trying play more confidently might just make you even worse if you don't improve your basketball skills first. You don't want to be taking those 3 point shots if you can't make them.

The one thing you can do though, is be confident that things don't really matter. If you go into a social interaction with confidence that it doesn't really matter if it goes bad and you still be ok and with a faith in yourself and your ability to gradually improve (I have to say gradually because for some people progress is so slow it will seem to not even be taking place) then you will gain a sort of confidence from that.

I used to be like that. I'm not the person who usually starts a conversation with sb who idk but I can go on a conversation with anybody. What I'd recommend u is standing infrot of the mirror and say what is what make u feel shy. Why do you have those insecurities and yeah they will be there maybe all your life but does ppl really care? Everybody has their own and worry about those insecurities. Feel more relaxed with sb u will talk to. Try to talk about sth u really know like 100% and that will help u a lot. This is what I actually did. I'm still sorta shy but now it's more normal if I can say so

Develop a reason to have confidence, like a skill. Then, have confidence even if you're not good at it, because you are learning and on your path doing something you care about.

Find a hobby that enquires performance. I recommend finding a local amateur theatre company that is noob friendly, because it’s social and you really have to get used to performing and being uncomfortable and letting go of potential embarrassment. Being able to forget about worst case scenarios is a necessary skill in theatre, which you can learn.
Putting serious effort into making yourself look better. It makes being confident in yourself easier when you can be sure you look as good as you can.

1st quit porn it really really affects the way you interact with people. Helped me big time.

That is the easiest part. Rest is harder and takes longer term.

Confidence is a representation of what you think about yourself, meaning it can be affected by stuff like childhood trauma. What worked for me back in the day is powering through my anxiety and getting good results, which later on reinforced my confidence. I know now it is a wrong way to do it.

It is better to identify what is causing low self worth internally, and not try and base your confidence on opinions of others or on your results. It is a week foundation.

Your going to have to force yourself out of your comfort zone my dude. Start small and dont shy away from failure. Most of us are scared of getting rejected and thats ok to a certain degree. Try not to let fear rule over you 👑

I think you can receive better tips and advice if you explain a bit more about yourself because now you will receive general advice.

So a little bit about yourself and your situation. And how shy are you exactly and in what situations. You say you cant talk to strangers. Does that mean you are afraid to say hi to the cashier in a supermarket?

Remember, the more info you give the better the info is you can receive.
