Usually I'd say 'be honest and direct' but I think telling her you love her out of nowhere would freak her out. When asking someone out, it's much easier to do it when you start feeling a 'connection' quite early on. That way you know for sure whether to concentrate on being friends or date. When you wait as long as you have, and let those feelings get out of control and snowball into "love", the stakes are a lot higher and asking a person out gets way harder.

For example, she - quite rightly if I'm honest - probably won't believe that you'll go back to being uncomplicated friends if you drop the love bomb on her and she doesn't feel the same. So I can't say being honest and direct won't fuck up the good thing you have as friends. But you owe someone you care about no less than the truth, just understand there are consequences for doing or not doing something.

Confessions are one of the most cringe off putting thing that young boys do because they don’t know any better.

Here is the thing when you confess your “love” but you have not even kissed her or sleep with her first, your confession comes across as unjustified and insincere because it isn’t earned.

It’s like there is no reason for your “love”, which only tells her that you are either lying or worst that you don’t even know what love is and confuse it with lust or infatuation.

Love is not seeing a girl and desiring her or daydreaming she would date you and be your girlfriend. Love does not happen without getting to know her first and not just in a platonic way, but also know her in a sexual way which you don’t.

You cannot say you love her until you kiss her or sleep with her first and even then after that had happened, it would still need time to say that you over her.

You have not even go on any romantic date. Being friends and hanging out as friends doesn’t count as dates. Talking for hours mean nothing if it’s not romantic talk.

And worst of all, confessions are also annoying, they put pressure on the girl, they are overwhelming and look needy, like you are begging her to choose you or to give you approval. It’s forced way to get her to see you as more than a friend and it doesn’t work.

Every time you do a confession, the most likely outcome is being told she only sees you as friend. That’s not how you get into a relationship and that shows her also that you are inexperienced and a virgin because only virgins do confessions.

Don’t confess your love. I know we see shit like that in movies all the time but it’s dumb to do in real life for multiple reasons. Especially if you want to maintain your friendship if she rejects you. It’s a lot easier to continue being friends if you casually ask her out and she says no than if you give some heartfelt confession to her. Keep that in mind and I know I said to casually ask her out but also be clear that it’s a date. If you don’t do that part right it’s easy for her to think “oh he just wants to hang out as friends” especially since y’all already know each other pretty well. Best of luck!

Man propose is a wild term to use for this context. If you confess your love, 90% of the time it's probably just going to freak her out and she might get weirded out UNLESS she feels really strongly about you as well. This still is an okay option for you to finally move on because it forces the dynamic of the relationship to change. To give a warning though the 3 outcomes would be she accepts your advance and you guys become a couple, she gets freaked out and wants nothing to do with you, or she gets freaked out and needs space but still is open to being friends. With the last possibilty she at least now knows your intentions so she either could flat out not be interested or be slowly open to the idea of you two as a couple.

The more "optimal" approach is to be more smooth about it and test the waters by flirting and seeing how she responds. The issue is if you don't know how to do this or refuse to take any risks you are never going to get anywhere so you might as well risk blowing up the friendship with confessing. The middle ground would be just asking her on a date. It's more direct than subtlety flirting and less serious than confessing. It should get the job done in terms of establishing that you like her
