Coming from a woman, you’re right - we can sense the desperation immediately. I agree with the fake it till you make it - you could be the least physically attractive guy in the room, but if you are the most confident, you lowkey become the most attractive. Works like magic.

find a new hobby or project that excites and distracts you

I'm kinda in that situation too. Lemme tell my experiences . I have a flirt ( at least that's how sense). Whenever I feel bad about myself or point out something she might misunderstand, things get worse.

Put lots of time on improving yourself. Get something to do like everyday idk work or hobby. Talk with dudes with a mentality of "I hope this guy is great" instead of "I hope he likes me."
