I "worked on myself" in freshman year (now junior). I joined clubs and talked to everyone. Yet, I did not get any dates out of it. And most of those people I rarely see anymore. I went to the gym as well from time to time. I took the time to try new sports and hobbies, and even talked to my classmates, yet I didn't succeed.

OK, I didn;t ask out any girls until sophomore year, where my superconfidence from freshman year died down. I didn;t focus on dating at all, yet I did not succeed. I regret it, as there were a good amount of single women at that time. I felt that upperclassmen had better SMV but girls get snatched up fast! And they break up after graduation, or later on in college, when we stop talking and go our own ways.

So, how is focusing on yourself and not focusing on dating helpful?
