I am a noob, just getting started, and its painful talking to new people. I have AA, approach anyways, come up with a reason I'm talking to them, they politely look at me and to what I have to say. I come up with something. I try and make it interesting, I really do. I just can't have fun lying about "being a CIA agent undercover", or telling the truth about how Im there alone to make friends, or asking them their opinion on what my friend should text back next to a girl.

I think they sense the fact that my heart is not in it and seem to be "humoring me" for lack of a better word. I feel like its a performance or something that I have to finish with and then I usually thank them for their time, leave them to their night, and excuse my self. This is paraphrasing of course, but its what I feel like is being communicated.

Does this phase last long? Is it a phase that people go through? Why is it so lame ? Why can't I be interested in strangers lives??? (the main q).
