Cold reads are what you are looking for. Instead of endlessly asking questions, make guessing statements. "You seem like a Taylor Swift type of girl." She will then respond with her music tastes.

make general assumptions sometimes instead of asking too much questions. if not they will be turned off as it becomes sort of an interview. like what others say, cold reads. then add a lil spice of playful teases and jokes. and give them the ultimatum, Im kinda interested and ask them out for a date

1) Break up questions with other responses. If you are just sitting there quizzing a girl about herself, it gets repetitive. Ask a question in a direction that you can get a reply that you can respond to with your own self and thoughts and emotions. I will ask a girl what shows she likes, pick one that I like and ask her what she likes about it, who her favorite characters are and why, etc. Then I will relate to it. "Yeah I love that character, no I don't like that about it, damn I loved this episode"

Get her to express her emotions about shit and respond with your own so she's like "hey we match!"

2) Learn to ask personal questions. Your first question can be super generic. It's the feeler. You search for a direction to ask followup questions in. "What do you do" should be followed up with "So what got you into that? How did you find out you liked it? What do you enjoy about it? What do you NOT enjoy about it"

When you get THOSE questions answered goto 1)

Surprise is irrelevant. You do not engage her with the questions. You find out things about her with questions that you can then engage with YOURSELF. You bounce back and forth between getting her to talk about herself and talking about yourself and look for her to engage back when you talk about yourself. If you ask girls followup questions and then find yourself being asked questions and followups, you're doing it right.

If they're not engaging with your talking about yourself either you just found out you need to talk to a different girl, or you're not giving her much to engage with and need to get better at sharing your own thoughts and feelings in response to hers.
