Persistence works when you openly, honestly and confidently makes your intentions known while simultaneously showing that you will not be upset if the other person turns down your offer. You must demonstrate (normally done by simply being chill and relaxed) that you don’t NEED the other person to respond positively, give you attention, like you, etc. This takes an enormous pressure off the other person.

What does not work is repeatedly trying to earn a person’s affection through performing often unrequested actions and then getting upset when they don’t give you what you want.

When a pursuer gets angry, upset, aggressive, or forceful in anyway, then their persistence will make the other person feel uncomfortable.

When a pursuer is unashamed about his desires, respectful of the other person’s choices and does not need the other person’s validation, then their persistence can be found attractive since it demonstrates that they are confident, self-assured, and know what they want.
