So I got a lot of complaints from some of you more curmudgeonly fucks that my last post was too simple, so I thought I’d give you something a little more complicated. This is my tried and tested guide to getting out there and getting over AA. If you've ever approached, you know that after the first approach, everything is easier afterwards. So really, it’s all about working up to that first approach without bitching out. So lets get started.

  • Energize. You need to be high energy when approaching, so make sure you're well rested, caffeinated, or otherwise hyped.

  • From the second you get to where ever you're planning on gaming, make eye contact with everyone you pass. Make a game of it and try to hold it longer than the other person. Give them a smile if they hold your gaze

  • A little harder now - when someone passes you, if they keep looking you in the eye, just smile and say "Hello", "Hi", "Mornin'", whatever the fuck you want. Say it to anyone.

  • Now lets get started approaching. Pick someone out, and go up to them. Ask any innocuous question. "Do you know how to get to X", "What time is it?", "I lost my friend. Have you seen someone who looks like X". Whatever you like. If you feel intimidated just pick someone who's opinion you don't care about.

  • That was really easy right? You should feel much more comfortable now. So time to make you uncomfortable again. Find a cute girl and do the same thing. This will probably be the hardest step, but just put yourself in her shoes: some guy is lost and needs directions. You give them to him, and he goes his merry way. No problem.

  • THE BIG ONE. Your first approach of the day. At this point you'll be feeling pretty social and ready to go. Find a girl, and just take three steps toward her. Don't think about anything other than your three steps. Just walk up and introduce yourself. Don’t think about openers, or what you’ll say after or “What if X”, or “What if Y”. The only three openers you'll ever need are:

    • "Hi, I'm Kelley. Who are you?"
    • "Hi, is this a bad time to chat you up?"
    • Or if you're feeling froggy: "Hi, I saw you from over there and I thought you were really cute. I wanted to introduce myself. I'm Kelley"

I don’t personally like to go out specifically for “Daygaming”, but I’ll use this frequently if I’m walking through campus, or wherever else I’m going. This won’t cure AA obviously, but it helps tremendously with getting started. Thanks for reading and let me know what you guys think.
