Reveal your insecurities, but don't pout about them. Own up to them like a man. I am no super cool alpha male, but I'm discovering that it's cool as long as you don't act like you're a freak. "Yeah, I fucking cry when my dog dies. It just gets to me.". Instead of 'ugh well, UM, this might make me sound weak but I'm, yeah I think dogs dying are kind of sad. I mean not really, but yeah." Get to the point of how you feel without hesitation, be calm about it, and without apology. I think sometimes it more weak if you show that you're afraid to show your feelings, instead of strongly stating them.

"The way you were last night made me feel upset and unappreciated." - saying that is way better than sulking and being moody about it.

Tell them whatever you need to, for the reason of opening up/getting things off your chest. But I think where you lose attraction is when you tell them these things looking for a certain reaction (approval/pity). Or expecting that they must share things with you in return. Tell her because you confide/trust in her. I think it would build attraction showing her that the relationship is deeper, that you have confidence in sharing your insecurities, and that you are not perfect, more down to earth.

I'm thinking it's always important to let the significant other know what your insecurities are but at the same time explaining to them how you want to deal with those insecurities. I believe your girlfriend will keep respecting you, because she knows that you have a plan on how to work on yourself and those insecurities (a plan equals ambition and ambition is a sexy trait).

I don't recommend relationship advice from here. I've been in your place before though, and I'd say fuck the "rules", it's just you and her. If you two should be together you should be able to show her your true self at this point, and mention the insecurity about revealing insecurities.
