Well, I guess they mean the opposite of seeking value. When you're seeking value, you want other people to validate you or your behavior, so, I guess that what they mean with offering value is that you should not be needy, and that people should feel good about talking with you. Basically you need to be very self confident, and give positive feedback and approval to other people. Just think of yourself as a god. Or Julien.

It basically means you're giving them a little piece of yourself. This is special because no one else can give someone can do that. No one else can give other people an insight like you.

Learn to give validation to other people, not all the time so you don't become a kiss ass, but enough to just say "we need a bit more of this" in our interaction, or maybe not so much of something else.

There are many ways to add value.

Examples: be funny, knowledgeable, generous, be a connector, offer kindness, support, insight.

The idea is that your object in any interaction is to give selflessly. Understand you've been given to generously throughout your life and that you are dhuty bound to give back at every opportunity.

In this way, be mindful of your gifts and cultivate them. Are you good at basketball? Practice, teach, play with others. Are you interested in science, participate in the community.

By cultivating your gifts you'll bring them to interactions with others. It isn't just a pick up ethos, it's a way of seeing life. It's got a lot to do with being grateful for what you have and wanting to share that with others.

In conversational terms it can be as simple as being a good listener, telling an entertaining story, or Googling a fact people are wondering about. The idea is, instead of having the mindset, I want to sleep with this girl, or I want her to validate me, you think, I want to add value to her life without expectation of reciprocation. That's where outcome independence comes in. Your value is freely given, without expectations.
