Negging is a dated concept. The premise of negging was that it was assumed a girl had higher value than you, and so you had to knock it down a few notches by fucking with her self-esteem. It's not necessary to do that, just use good ol' fashioned teasing. Teasing demonstrates that you are a dominant, attractive guy.

E.g. She accidentally knocks something over or stumbles in her words: "hey listen...I know I'm like really hot, but you can talk to me like a normal person"

If you're making out with her, you can cut it off early and say: "and that's all you get! No more!"

Banter lines: "Hey btw just wanted to say...you are by far the 3rd cutest girl I've met all week."

"Check it out...this date has been going really well, so if you play your cards right, I'll even let you hold my hands later on"

It's rude and manipulative, it speaks volumes about what kind of (terrible) person you are, and moreover, women have caught on to it.

Negging is kind of obsolete. It was generally replaced by "disqualifiers," for example, "You and I could never get along, we are too much alike." That follows your sort of pattern of a neg followed by a compliment.

There is another old school theory I like. It says you should not give a compliment without "rolling off" with an IOD, an indicator of disinterest. The classic format is known as "bait hook reel release." One example I used was when I met a woman in a bar who was a journalist, I said, "You're a writer? That's amazing! But you're just messing with me, did someone tell you I'm a writer too?"

Oh come come on, it's not dated. You need to make sure it's mixed with humor, it should never sound too serious. Negging is a good thing as long as the girl can laugh or pretend to laugh about it. In a relaxed atmosphere it's fine and very helpful.
