The most generic opener of them all. Used by 90% of guys on the platform. If you wanna grab her attention, then this is the worst because it’s just not interesting.

She has plenty of matches who wrote the exact same thing and it’s boring having to reply to all of them the same bullshit and have the same generic conversation.

- An observation about one of the photos in her profile (wow, I would love to visit Eiffel Tower some day)

A bit better than the generic one, but also dull. You state a fact (you want to see the tower) ok you and many others, so who cares? Did she ask you? Not really. Likely to be ignored as well. Even if she replied her response would not be very warm.

- Pickup line

If it’s funny, sure. The problem is pick up lines require you to have humour.

If the only funny thing you ever say to her is the pick up line, and then your conversation goes back to being like:

“i love the eiffel tower, how old are you” “i’m working at this place, yeah i like it, it consists on doing x y and z” “so you like marvel movies? Yeah they are fun”…

Then you will eventually stopped getting replies because, it’s just not making her feel anything with you, it’s like a job interview more than anything else.

(Personal favorite) Saying that she looks like a celebrity (damn, you look so much like Gal Gadot)

Maybe. this is your subjective opinion which is fine and can get responses, like “thank you”, or “nah i don’t look like her at all”. Still the conversation that follows is what matters.

Funny openers:

“Hey Marta, let’s rob a bank and fly off to mexico”

“Hey, Christine, we need to talk… I think i’m pregnant…”

“Lauren, listen… I think sex is affecting our professional relationship, maybe we should stop”

“Why didn’t you call Mary? Our kids are worried because they thought you had abandoned them again”

“Happy anniversary darling, 10 years already. I hope you didn’t forget to get me something nice this time”.

And last one:

You: “Please, tell me you aren’t a Geminis person”

She: God no, fuck Geminis

You: Well great!! let’s get married then.

If she says she is Geminis:

You: “I can’t take this anymore 😞 i want a divorce”…

Observation about something on her profile is the best way to go out of these options.

The "you look like X celebrity" is horrible. Never use that. Most people dislike being compared to another person. And it also comes across like a compliment on her appearance. Which you should not do.

I personally combine observation of something on her profile with an open-ended question. For example, let's say you see on her profile that she's a volleyball player. You can open up two threads of conversation in one message. Example:

I would love to visit the Eiffel Tower some day! What made you get into volleyball?

I also recommend you send a message as quickly as possible after matching. Women are usually on dating apps for a very short periods, and they usually turn off their dating app notifications. Wait too long and they might not even see your message.

You can try all these lines but, if your Pictures suck, they won’t respond. Make sure you have pictures of yourself doing stuff outside and with people.

The best openers are some or all of these things.

- light hearted

- challenging (rather than complimenting)

- relevant to her

Option 1 is boring, you're basically relying on your looks here to generate all of the motivation to respond.

The fact that you would love to see Eiffel Tower is really not very relevant to her, she probably doesn't have a reason to care yet. But maybe she likes talking about Paris, so better than Option 1.

If you mean pickup lines like one-liner jokes, I've never used them.

Option 4 is at least relevant to her and light hearted but like someone else said it might be taken for a compliment which is also very boilerplate.

But if you make an assumption relevant to her personality based on the picture and then challenge her on that, that's a good line in my opinion.

"I like [thing in photo], looks like you are [attribute] kind of person, are you [playful accusation]? :P"

This girl only had in her bio the following, "6 feet... if that matters". I opened with, "I've never been on a date with a girl taller than me. Want to be the 1st?" We had a date and a second one with plans for a 3rd. Go with something in her bio. Might not respond but it's probably your best bet.

'i love your vibe. can i take you out for coffee' is my 'go to'. its a compliment on something intrinsic but undefined. and its a signal of intent that i want to actually see them in person ASAP.

'what do you mean by my vibe?' is a common response. or 'maybe you can take me out, but lets chat a bit first' . both provide a good framing and good leads on extending the convo and taking things to a real date
