Hi Seddit,
I just had some quick thoughts I want to get out. They're not in anyway inspiring or new, but more of a reminder to everyone out there who sees this any worth or not. Take it for what you will.
So I was at a party last week with more or less a group of regulars. There was more newer faces this time around and two gents I saw came outta the woodworks---with heaps of positive energy that you'd expect from folks who want to set a good mood around them.
Cutting to the chase, they were likable at first supplying anecdotes, displays of value, being interesting and interested, and I think one point that I thought ate into their game as make or break: push and pull.
I think this small element is important for both guys and girls. I don't care for all that alpha bull crap when I have my best self to show, but as everyone always knows, not agreeing with everyone and creating some tension/disagreement creates fun for everyone.
Problem? After the either created or thought they created peak interest in themselves, they continued for whatever reason, playing this push game on everyone. It turned from likeable to obnoxious. I guess they didn't pick their targets and isolated them yet or whatever, but they put it on blast to everyone and became a contrarian to what everyone was saying. I knew my other girl friends around the party was pretty annoyed.
I guess to close up, my thoughts on this: if you're going to push people away by creating some tension, don't forget to reel them in and pull them back to show you're a human, not a performer. Additionally, I guess knowing your peak value to either sustain it or leave is something to keep in mind as well. Stay with good value or leave with it, not kill it.
Obviously, just an anecdotal experience that doesn't apply to all.
