This just happened.
I walked out of my dorm and started to walk towards the library. As Im walking a guy behind me starts to walk closer to me after he said goodbye to a couple (of what looked like) friends of his. He says to me "Hey hows it going". I thought the conversation was going to be the typical..
Him: Hey, hows it goin? Me: Good and you? Him: Good. Me: smiles and gives head nod
I said Im doin pretty good, he asked me where Im going and I tell him Im going to study. We start talking about school, what our majors are, and just have casual conversation for 10minutes as I walk to the library. We shook hands said our names, and parted ways once I got to my destination.
In my 20 years, nobody has ever just struck up a conversation with me like that, and it was nice. Made my walk interesting and I met someone new.
I've always had approach anxiety and this guy just did it like it was nothing(even though were both guys I think approach anxiety could still apply). I always thought itd be annoying to be on the receiving end of a random stranger trying to talk to me, but now that Ive experienced it, its not so bad at all.
You could be that interesting thing in that girls routine life if you just say hello. This whole thing has given me a new frame of mind, I feel that approaching will be a lot easier here on out. Just wanted to share this story.
Ps: just want to say this guy wasnt trying to hit on me or anything like that. He just seemed like he wanted someone to talk to as it wouldve been a boring walk otherwise.
