I'm wondering if anyone in the community has experienced something similar to what I seem to be going through. I'm definitely not complaining or looking for anyone to "diagnose" me - I'm just looking to see if anyone has had a similar experience so I can try and improve.
I first got into pickup in late 2016, at which point I had slept with about five girls in my life (I was 26 then). A couple were pretty attractive but it was mostly due to dumb luck and I had no idea to make something like that happen again. Since then I've been with about 30 women, including one-night stands, short flings, and medium term FWB relationships. I've learned an incredible amount about myself and about women in the process and I give the Seddit community a ton of credit for helping me learn and encouraging me to get out there and meet girls.
But I've noticed I've been in a bit of a slump recently. I can still get dates just fine, but I haven't been able to close like I used to. I have a few theories as to why. Obviously no one can say whether they're true for me specifically but I want to see if anyone can relate.
1) Standards went up. I used to be a little less picky about girls I'd swipe right on in the apps, talk to at bars, etc. I knew that they weren't hot enough to be anything even medium term, but I wanted the practice and frankly wanted to get my lay count up. The part about the lay count is less true now. So I find myself only making the effort to talk to a girl (especially online) if she's super attractive.
"Hunger" has gone down. Probably similar to number one. I no longer feel the need to try and get a girl into bed just to up my lay count or see another girl naked (unless she's super hot or we really click), and it probably shows. I don't put quite the effort I used to into multiple dates, etc, and even if a girl is attractive I'll sometimes stop pursuing her if the personality match isn't there. This wasn't the case before.
Getting too comfortable. I'm guessing when I was first starting out, girls could tell I was a little nervous. Now I rarely get nervous before going on a date and maybe that comes across as being too practiced or indifferent. I don't think this is the case but I guess it's impossible to say.
Logistics. I moved out of my downtown apartment last year and bought I house in a nearby neighborhood. I also moved in with a roommate to help pay for the mortgage. It's great to own my own place but it's not as flashy or convenient as being downtown and now there's usually someone else home whenever I bring a girl back.
It's me. I doubt it's physical - I'm in better shape than ever and my face hasn't changed that much. But I'm also a few years older and probably have less patience for bullshit. Maybe that's the case.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Again, I'm not looking for people to tell me what's happening with me personally. But if anyone else has had a similar thing happen it might help me to reflect and understand what I need to do differently.
