Context - talking to this girl at work (yes yes don’t shit where you eat, I am waiting to leave this job which is pretty much unskilled labour), she’s a little unusual/shy but chill to talk to. I can’t tell whether I’m just being used for attention, as I did ask her out once to play pool/darts but she ended up coming up with some form of excuse which revolved around her not being good at it and social anxiety etc etc (yes I know, it’s either a ‘fuck yes’ or it isn’t), now few weeks later we’re still talking at work when I do come in and she seems to be a little different towards me, in a more positive way, which brings me to my question - should I say something like “you and your boyfriend”, implying she has one, when I know she doesn’t from ‘other sources’, to gauge her reaction and subsequently interest?

I know it would be easier to just ask her out, again, but that’s what I don’t want to do without some slight confirmation, and I cba to potentially feed her ego if she ends up rejecting again. Might do it in person this time as well.
