Who is John Cooper and why do you care what he says?

Anyway, PUA is an old term. You could say this sub was a "PUA sub" many years ago, but I don't know if you can still associate it with all that "Game" stuff from 2005 today. The world has moved on. Seduction as a field has changed and developed a lot. Most people here don't think of themselves as "PUAs" and they don't strive to become a "PUA".

But it does have a lot of similarities. Like most here want tips on how to bang women. That general vibe is pretty much the same.

John Cooper drew inspiration from RSD Tyler. He saw their success and used the same blueprint to criticize the Mystery Method... basically, the recipe was to take a massive, well-known product and create a new one just to prove the first one wrong.

That’s exactly what’s happening on YouTube right now. Look at Bayne - he's the best example, he always acting like nobody knows anything and only his method is right. In the past, there was John Anthony, but his channel is gone now... yet there are still plenty of guys building a name for themselves just by tearing others down.

PUA and all these techniques are so heavily associated with manipulation now, it's like you're not even allowed to say a joke because then you're seen as trying too hard.... or you are looking for validation... You can't use a push-pull because it's not authentic... If you start with an indirect opener, you're dishonest and hiding your intentions... and so on. It’s all total BS.

Back in 2015, John Cooper basically just said that everything you knew about seduction up to that point was wrong, and that you should buy his method instead.

I see no reasons why not to.

Ultimately "Pick Up Artist" is just a socially constructed label. Where it can be toxic (in my opinion) is if you choose to tie it to your identity and identify as one. Again, just my opinion (also in my opinion there is no objective truth to anything, its just what works for you), these sorts of forums are just guys trading notes.

One thing I do like about the "PUA Mindset" though is "testing things in the field". Instead of building a mental model in your head and then arguing with reality when it does not work out. Go into the field and build your mental model from that. Have fun, try different things, see what works, what dosn't work, enjoy it, learn from it.

Finally, one of the things I find toxic about some people who identify as "Pick Up Artists", is just viewing women as "targets". That said, plenty of non PUA guys, just view women as holes for when they get horny AND then they claim otherwise. So in some regard at least a PUA is honest about their intent, they are not virtue signalling.

All that said, info shared on these sorts of subs, is just that, guys sharing info. If a PUA says "approach women and open sets", is that really any different from a guy who says "talk to women", in my view not really. When it comes to identity level stuff, that is irrelevant when listening to ideas and trying them.

And as for John Cooper, again see my earlier point, do what works for you. If you take value from subs, why do you care about that one specific thing this John Cooper said.
