I went up to a cute looking girl that was possibly too young. I passed by her, and I kind of stood somewhat far apart and just kind of agonized over whether or not I should approach. I said "fuck it" and next thing I knew my feet started moving towards her, and then once I came close to her I kind of blurted out "Hey, was just walking by and I thought you were cute." It wasn't elegant and it wasn't very skillfully done, but it was coherent and I stood unflinching after I said it, which impressed myself. She looked up at me and then looked down at her phone once I finished my sentence, acting as if she was oblivious to the fact that I just randomly approached her on the street. At this point I realized she was definitely too young. However, I pressed on for the experience. I asked her about where the bus was going, as she was standing at the bus stop. She gave extremely half-hearted answers, but as I continued talking I started feeling more at ease, and I think she kind of did too. I asked her if she'd ever been approached randomly by a stranger, she said it happened a few times, but it just made her uncomfortable. Lol. Eventually I just asked her how old she was, she said 16. I said very good, well, I hope you have a good day and then went on my way.

Lesson learned today: that going up to girls and approaching them for conversation is very doable. I'm not sure if straight up telling them "that I think they're cute" is the best strategy. I think it causes me to feel like I've showed too much of my hand, and that they have more power over me. Maybe I'll try "you look interesting" next time.
