You stop that by rewiring your brain. That is, doing it to the point where you get used to it and its no problem, like and introvert who is afraid of social interaction, but after enough practice it becomes natural

I used to have that problem whenever I was going to do anything that seemed out of the ordinary in the slightest. Like I'd have to come up with an explanation in case anybody asked. Eventually I just learned to catch it when I started doing that and gave myself the same answer every time: you don't owe anyone an explanation.

Late to the party, but read this.

Also, at the risk of taking what you're writing too seriously, part of the problem is probably that you think of it as a battle. If we imagine that it's true for a moment, who are you fighting? That's right, yourself.

To continue that train of thought, who do you think will win? It is of course a trick question, cause you can't truly win a fight against yourself. The only way to win is to not fight. When the feeling you're struggling with arise, take a step back and listen to it. It's there for a reason, however stupid it is, and if you just try to shove it under the rug it's going to get bigger and more difficult to deal with. So take your time and find out where it comes from, what the logic behind it is and then decide whether or not you think the logic is sound and should be followed. Chances are it's not, since it's interfering with your current desires, but you have to "feel it out" so to speak, find the root to all this and deal with that. If you just continue to fight the symptoms, chances are they'll stick around for the forseeable future.

Protip: Start meditating. Here's RSD's Jeffy ranting a bit about the positive effects of meditation, and it's a great tool to have in your arsenal. Here's an article about it, with instructions on how to meditate. It's a quite simple exercise, and with a bit of practice you will probably be able to put yourself in a meditative state while doing other things, which will most likely reduce the uneasy feeling that pops up when you want to approach a woman.
