I had an incredible date last night, so this is a throwaway post to ground myself in reality.

Successful people are successful at what they do, not at who they are with. I just watched an interview of Warren Buffett, and that man is an incredible investor. He was also married, but his marriage wasn't his goal in life and it wasn't his greatest accomplishment.

Sometimes I forget that it is better to focus on your career and do dating because you like to, instead of focusing on dating and doing your career because you like to.

The one thing I've learned out of all this dating is that forming relationship with someone requires both individuals to put in an effort to make it happen. One individual chasing another is a lost cause, and it is better for both parties to move on.

I don't think it's possible to find a perfect partner. We all have our faults and we are all changing over time. It is incredible to me when after a coffee date, women don't text me back or text me saying that they are not interested. It just seems ignorant to throw something away instead of making an effort to see where the relationship goes.

I am a nice guy. But I am also an effective guy. I get at least 1 phone number a day and go on a minimum of 1 to 2 coffee dates every week. I am well versed in this, and can keep a conversation going because I have done it so much before.

Sex used to motivate me. Not anymore. I'd much rather find a partner I can do stuff with and together we can build successful lives. Sure, sex can be a component of that, but it is far from the goal of the relationship.

I started off in the dating world in the pursuit of a girlfriend. 2 years later, I might as well call myself a pickup artist. I live and breathe daygame, and I've had so much practice out in the field I do better than most guys my age.

Warren Buffett had an interesting piece of advice on picking stocks. He compared to baseball, and said that he gets thousands of pitches to him a day, but there are no outs so he can swing whenever he wants. I think that relates a lot to dating, where we are surrounded by hundreds of women, but we don't have to swing unless we feel it will be worthwhile.

I stopped playing texting games. I just text whenever I feel like it, as long as it isn't too late at night or too early, and it isn't too many texts in a row.

When I am dissatisfied with myself, I remind myself the progress I've made over the days, weeks, months, and years. I remind myself how much I've learned about humanity and the world through my first dates. I ground myself in the fact that I have time to find someone, as long as I put in the effort to put myself out there.

Time to get back to work.
