I don't know whether this is a common problem for you folks, but I've started to realize that it's a problem for me. Growing up as a very introverted, awkward kid, I made a substantial effort to learn how to be "chatty." While I'm pretty good at making banter and conversation nowadays, I've noticed on more than one occasion that I mess things up by continuing to talk when I should act, or sucking the good tension out of a conversation by making jokes or simply forgetting to shutting up. I understand that there's a need for silence in a good conversation, but does anyone have any insights into how one accomplishes this?
