Lesson: Don't fall for a girl.

So I'm a little jaded right now.

I usually keep myself fairly guarded. I don't let people in because, hey, I've been hurt before. But I recently let someone in and I cared about her very much.

And she did exactly what I thought she would do.

In high school I was always awkward, disheveled, and quite geeky. I'm still geeky as all fuck, but I'm in pretty good shape, I dress well, and I carry myself excellently. But even in my awkward phase, I still attracted a good number of girls, and they were mostly all great. I ended up leaving most of them because I would get bored. And then, a little over 2 years ago, I met a girl and fell in love with her almost immediately. She was fantastic. Didn't even really have to game. We clicked right away and had a great relationship. And then, about 1.5 years later, she left me. Tore my heart out and just walked away. Still haven't even heard from her, almost a year later. Took me a few months, but I learned how to move on. Started seeing a lot of different girls, dating, going out all the time, etc.

And then I met this one girl. At work, of all places. We clicked immediately. She became on of the girls I saw regularly. Eventually I stopped making plans with anyone else because I always had plans with this girl. She was challenging. Different from anyone I had been with before. Fantastic. And then she told me she loved me. And I fell. I realized I loved her, too. We became exclusive.

But I had my reservations. She liked to go out all the time. Liked to drink. Occasionally did some drugs. But she had cut back dramatically since we started. And she was almost 30 (I'm 23), I figured she was cutting back and going to stop. It was juvenile behaviour and I thought it would end because she was getting serious with me.

I was wrong.

The other day I decided to stop drinking alcohol all together. She didn't like that. She said she wanted to have a party lifestyle. That I wasn't right for her. She said I was too responsible, too serious, too level headed. She wasn't used to a man who had his shit together and knew how to take care of a woman.

So learn from my mistake, sedditors. Know the girl you're with and make sure you don't let anyone in unless you know you can trust them.

TL;DR: Don't fall for a girl, wait for a woman.
