I levelled up fellas.
Two weeks ago I moved my goal post from talking to 3 random people at a bar, no matter who, to talking to 3 random girls at a bar no matter how they looked. Well, I chickened out of that for two weeks. But today, my lust took a better hold of me than my anxiety so I decided it was finally time.
I took the advice of some self-help guru that was blessed upon me by the YouTube algorithm; I left my house and walked in one direction for 30 minutes. I took the path of least resistance on my way out because the pussy in me still wanted to avoid confrontation as much as possible. Luckily, along my way there was a woman I was definitely not attracted to who was walking her dog. Gave a quick compliment on her dog and asked what his breed was. The pup was very excited which gave a good excuse to cut the conversation short. I just wanted to a bit of a warm up and to practice my body language.
On my way back home I decided to take the path of greatest resistance: walking downtown. On my way to the hottest area in my town I saw a woman talking on the phone. Pussied out because I wasn't brave enough to interrupt someone on the phone. Kept walking past girls left and right, making excuses each time. I've been meaning to practice approaching without giving myself time to talk myself out of it. I learned the 5 second rule from another post. Unfortunately, I'm still very new at this and my approach anxiety is still horrendous.
However, I was still somewhat determined to not walk home in defeat. I spot two girls having a conversation on a bench. The one whose face I could see was... LGBTQ, probably, so I thought that it wouldn't be a very intimidating approach on a group. Against my better judgement, I walk up to them in the most suspicious way I probably could have. I was having a battle in my mind of "should I make eye contact as I walk up to them? Or should I avoid it until I'm in front of them?" Didn't matter, my approach ended up being awkward anyway. I opened with something along the lines of "Hey you guys looked cool. I wanted to say hi." The interaction itself was a bit awkward. The first chick was cold. Not mean, but clearly was waiting for me to leave the second I interrupted them. The other girl was kinda cute which threw me off for half a second but took a backseat to the anxiety of trying to hold a conversation with two girls I just met. She wasn't as cold as the first one but it was more like confusion rather than disinterest. I ask some basic info questions, and shook their hands. Feeling the temperature of the situation turn colder and colder I become more worried about finding an exit than keeping my composure. I fumble a bit in trying to keep it going, but after 60-90 seconds of having some NPC dialogue I decide to walk off without giving them a quest.
But that's 3 girls so I've completed my own personal quest! No. I'm now warmed up and wanted to make up for that embarrassment. One more! On my way home I spot a chick that was pretty attractive standing outside one of the nicer restaurants downtown, dressed up a bit. I... reason myself out of potentially talking to another guy's girlfriend. But that can't be how I end my night. Turning the last corner before I leave the downtown area I spot a chick who also seemed like she was waiting for someone outside of a local restaurant. She wasn't my type but any practice would be a good experience. I open up with a comment about the weather and she ends up being very receptive. I hold a solid conversation for about 5 minutes.
As I said earlier, the goal was to talk to 3 girls, no matter how attractive. As a level one noob, I still didn't have the confidence to talk to a woman I was actually attracted to, let alone approach them with the purpose of dating them. But with my bar escapade and now this hour long adventure I'd say I've successfully leveled up to level TWO noob. I think I'm gonna grind out more levels using the same goal for a little bit until talking to women randomly is more natural to me.
As a side note, day game is definitely harder than night game like I thought it'd be. The dynamics of talking to people who are out in the wild vs in an enclosed area just works against newbie cold approachers. At least that's my own opinion.
