It's a good side project for approaching. You're not going to be going out every night after all.

As someone who's had decent luck going out, I did manage to take a cute Ivy-league graduate out on two dates. How the dates went is an entirely different story. Match.com is a good side project to increase your chances of finding someone, no matter what you're looking for.

I consider it a project for a reason. Replies and an invested interest from a girl will be few and far in between, no matter how good your profile is. You will be writing a lot. I lost count of how many messages it took for me to get this date. You could have better luck though. I say it's worth it, I'm willing to shell out the subscription fee for the ability to increase my approaches when I'm not actively out there.

There are plenty of attractive women on dating sites. I use OKCupid because when I signed up for Match.com I got a message telling me "Sorry, we have no matches for you", which was depressing. As for OKCupid, I've been on there a year now, haven't really been using the spray-and-pray method, but have had a few nice conversations. Unfortunately none of them have led to a date yet, as they've all just stopped responding at one point or another.

The main problem with online dating is that a lot of it hinges on your profile picture, no matter how good-looking you are. OKCupid do a LOT of research on the data they get back, regarding different poses and facial expressions, and how effective different approaches are when it comes to the number of responses people receive. I would suggest reading some of their stuff, though like I said, there is a LOT of it.

I just quit OKC. I did pretty well, was getting a date a week for a while, but it was just too much work to justify the investment. I mostly quit because I found the dynamic was hurting my real-world game. I managed to get a good rate of response because I sent a couple of paragraphs that were relatively amusing and demonstrated that I read her profile ... but this takes time, and "good" in this context is one response for every 3 or 4 messages sent. Well guess what ... do that long enough, and you find yourself inexplicably surprised when a woman smiles and flirts back in real-life. Oh, that's right ... she's just a cute chick going about her business, she doesn't have her eye on her 15,000 item long checklist of what sort of dude she's entitled to. If I try online again, I'm going to do it on a pay site ... having to cough up money is an excellent gating factor. And the only reason I consider it is because I'm in my 40's, and don't have quite the number of bar / club options you younger guys do (at least not while retaining my dignity.) Advice from an old guy: if you're in your 20's / 30's and using online dating instead of taking advantage of all the outlets available to you now in RL, you're not doing it right.

For me every single social website I've tried has been worth it. If you can setup a date from the comfort of your own home it's very worth it. I have had sex with women from every single dating site, including Craigslist and hotornot (younger people may not know about this website).

Anyway if you spend 3 hours and $20 and get laid from an attractive woman then it's a very good deal.

My guess is if it's not worth it to you then you must be having sex everyday with different women. In that case you shouldn't even be here.
