Me: you weren't suppose to answer that ,I just wanted a reason to talk to you.

this was a good opportunity to get her to laugh; hell, i've done this before. something along the lines of,

ME: Nice weather we're having.

HER: I know right? Its rained ever since we got here.

ME: Really? I havent really noticed, I just wanted an excuse to talk to you. **(said playfully with a smile)

she laughed. K closed in the end.

you gotta get in frame and make sure you don't freeze like you did. freezing is just a symptom of approach anxiety mixed with outcome dependence.

Your lines were not terrible. I think what this has taught you, or should have, is that delivery / body language /etc. is more important than what you actually say when you approach.

+1 for approaching a girl on campus.

-1 for asking for the time, then telling her you didn't want the time (although possibly +1 if you did it with a huge shit eating grin and said it very sarcastically)

I rate this approach a 0.

Next time skip the what time is it.

Walk up, say:" I wanted to come talk to you, my name is FlyingKiwi46, what's yours?"

"Sarah"

"Nice to meet you Sarah! So what's new with you? I take it you go here?"

"Yeh I'm in art history."

"I can never remember all the names and dates and things, so confusing. Help me, was it Manet or Monet who tried to kill themselves? I always get it mixed up."

"Oh I'm not that good!!"

"Well what are you doing standing and talking to me! Go study!"

"Uh, I'm waiting for the bus..."

"It's a joke Sarah, you're supposed to laugh, then stay and talk with me anyways."

"Uh, haha ok!"

"So what do you like about your major then?"

"Well I like...blah blah blah."

Its easy to say this but it's very true: it's awkward if you make it awkward.

Try to literally not care for the outcome. As if you already lost your chance with her and it's just a game. This will relax you a bit and you will come out natural.

The important thing is that you approached which puts you ahead of most people. Just keep practicing continuously and the experience will build confidence.

Truth is, not every girls aren't going to respond friendly. Rejections do happen. Keep trying and practicing you'll eventually come across a friendly woman.
