A successful set is meant to follow a progression. Open->Transition->Attraction->Qualification->Comfort->Close.

Whether you agree on this exact model or not, I'm sure you all agree that you have to open, and at some point build attraction & comfort, and obviously get a close of some kind.

I can open well on most sets now, and can usually transition into a conversation if the opener is well received. The trouble is my sets are getting stuck in just a general shooting the shit style conversation. The pickup is not progressing towards a close.

I think this can be broken down into two main problems:

  1. I never seem to be able to transition into any DHV stories or routines. The conversation just never seems to flow to topics which would make the routine or DHV story seem natural at that point. This means I can only hope to build attraction through humour (if I'm on form and the girl finds me funny), and the fact I usually come in with a qualifying / challenging frame (although I can over do this which can annoy girls). I always seem to forget to use routines mid set (like C vs U shaped smiles is fairly easy to transition into, but I forget to do it).

  2. I always fail to isolate a girl. Sets just stay as large group conversations when this happens. Seducing a girl is very much a one on one thing, so isolation / locking in is vital.

This is all really annoying. Like I was in set with my wing and 3 girls tonight, and one of the girls looked like the HB10 cheerleader from 'Heroes'. She was that fucking hot. She was quite friendly towards me at the start of the set, and I wasn't phased by her beauty, I just didn't know how to progress things. The set went on for 15 minutes until they had to go with the rest of their work mates to the next pub (they were on a pub crawl). I should be number closing sets in 15 minutes.

I wasn't stood next to her. In this situation is it ok if I'm talking to her to just move to be next to her as I talk? I think this would be fine, I just never seem to think to do it while in set.

Any ideas? How do you guys remember to put the theory into practice mid set?
