Everyone's different, but I'd respond to this better:

"Hey how are you? I'm putting a party together for my friend's birthday and need ideas for a club to go to after dinner.. do you know any good ones?"

But I'm in my 30s and not even from USA. But "I've only got a moment to talk" sounds like "I'm strictly trying to get info from you and not interested in talking" and "club to hit up" strikes me as.. dorky. But depends on your age, who you are, how you normally talk.

But yeah, just keep it natural compared to how you'd always talk and drop the "only have a moment to talk" stuff.

Then if you get a bit of back and forth conversation, if she/he seems interested and gives suggestions, you could say something like: "Thanks, I'll check them out. (Insert some other convo here). I was also wondering if you'd like to come with us?"

If you know her/him a bit better or you've already had some flirty banter at some point then you could be more direct and say something like "Would you like to come with me?" like more personal, otherwise keep it sounding casual. If you're young or just not the kind of person to type things... umm I guess "formally"? then throw your own twist into it. But only ask if there's some back and forth convo. If they're just like "Hey I'm good, how are you? Yeah there's a good one on Street Street called ClubbyClub" then just say you're doing good and ask more aboit the club or about them and see how they respond

You know how you get feedback for openers? By using your opener, 10s of times, and draw experience from those opens.

But to break it down and give my own 2 cents..

“I’ve only got a moment to talk”

False time constraint you’re using here, which is good, but I’d agree with the other poster that this needs dropped or changed. Use this if you’re stopping a girl on the street or something and you need to show you realize she’s busy, but I’d almost use “Heyy, quick question, but...” then go into it. Not only this, but it should be said slow to show that though you’re respective of their time, you’ll still take all the time you need to properly communicate.

Ok, I can see what you’re doing here. DHV for throwing the party, then into the opinion opener. It’s decent. But I’d personally add a bit for flair and personal touch to it (that matches your personality) :

“Hey (said firmly to gain their attention)...I have a quick question if you don’t mind (said with a light smile; wait until the group or one girl it looking at you)...but I’m putting together this surprise party for a friends birthday coming up, and it involves food followed by partying. Now, I LOVE food, so I already have a great dinner picked out. BUT I’m not hugely into the whole club scene so I don’t really know the good places to go for after dinner. My friend loves that sort of stuff, so I want to take him to a good one, would you all know of any I could take him too?”

See how much personality that one has in comparison? You’re kind of seems.. stiff. But again, field is king. Don’t take mine or anyone else’s word over real world reactions and experience you get in the field. So get out there and show the world (and yourself) what you got.

That's a bunch of words that you'd throw at a stranger without them having room to breathe.

I'd start with something short, gauge their reaction, then go into my sales speech.

"hey, are you guys from here?" Whatever they say "ahh, because im organizing a party and we're looking for a place to go after"

You shouldn't even need to ask "do you know any place?"

But that's an awfully platonic opener imo, your BL better be on point.

Instead of "I only habe a moment", try "hey, do you have a second?"
